August 9, 2017 - From an opened bottle, probably open for a day. Color is completely intact. Nose is subdued, dried fruit leather, some subtle smoke and meat but generally quite quiet. Palate is lip smacking fresh and robust, with tannin smooth but pleasantly gripping. Finish is long and savory. For a new world sangiovese, this was surprisingly dirty, earthy and rustic. Given the palate I say this has another 10 years in it, but I wish there was a bit more fruit to balance it, and a more aromatic profile.
