Community Tasting Notes 1

October 5, 2008 - Initially, very pungent on the nose. Huge aromas of pepper and smoked game, which didn't sit well with my vegetarian date. Once the wine had some time to breathe and open up, big blackberries, pepper and smoke hit the palate, with a touch of vanilla sweetness and coffee. A surprisingly complex wine that could have definitely benefited from decanting and/or more time in the bottle.
