October 4, 2017 - Though the terroir of Macedonia is half a world away, we can feel, smell and taste the Zin with which we are acquainted. Typical thin skinned grape viscosity and mouth feel. Deep purple color. Medium plus bodied. Loads of upfront blueberry and mulberry fruit. Moderate but appropriate acid. More dry tannins than we get in California. Cocoa and some bitterness. Fades a bit toward the mid palate. Some earthy Euro funk and graphite. Does not finish as strong as it starts. Unique but also sneaky familiar.
