December 17, 2018 - Had I tasted blind I never would’ve taken this for Malbec. It had none of the sharp alcohol edge of what I think of as typical. This was heavy on cherry blackberry and cassis, with bramble florals and a solid though not bracing tannic spine. After about an hour some Cahors typicity showed up - wood, a little pepper, cassis. But this had none of the rustic tannins of usual Cahors. Really an eye opener as to what Malbec can do. Not the most complex tastes, but definitely refined and very, very satisfying.
