  February 12, 2022 - 2021 Martinborough weekend with Kai, Marion and friends (Wairarapa, NZ): Served double blind with the Hudelot-Noellat. A noticeably garnet, browning colour. A bouquet moving from secondary to tertiary. Sous bois, dry brush, tobacco leaf, earth and some musk. On palate, I had this wine as a faded 1990s 1er Burgundy, or potentially even a 1990s New World. Then I started to think, again, about 2004 pyrazines. Tertiary, stalky, brambly flavours. On the reveal, a 17 year old Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin should have more life in it than this. Again, I don’t know if this was just a bottle issue or is more widespread with this wine.

  August 12, 2019 - PNP. Cork perfect. color showing age. CC mistook this for new world with some age, and i must admit that blind i wold agree. definitely missing the green quality that plagues 2004. even if i had guessed old world i would have never guessed the vintage. delicious

  July 17, 2018 - Brick red with a bit of browning. The color looked worrisome. The nose however, is wonderful. Full of mushrooms, damp forest floor and wet soil. On the palate it is velvet. Acid is a bit higher than medium, tannins are rounded, silky, fully resolved. It has the mouthfeel of light cream. There's quite a bit of fruit on the palate and none of the greenies from the vintage. I think this is developed enough. Aside from the color though, nothing else is worrisome. It may last a few more years if well stored but there's no reason to wait. I'd advise to stand up for a couple of days if the cloudiness bothers you and pop.

  March 28, 2015 - PNP. Cork wet to top. Color brick w browning edges. Nose mostly sous bois. Swishing and sipping show this to be fully resolved burg that is completely ready. Doubt that there is an upside to waiting and with air for >2 hr this started to thin. I would drink this in the next 1-2 yrs I think. None of the green flavors aromas associated w the vintage.

  August 28, 2014 - This was awesome. Totally mature and ready to go yet polished and smooth. Mostly secondary aroma/flavor profile. Finish elegant and refined. I am really impressed by what they accomplished in a miserable vintage. This is a definite gem and if you come across it on a menu don't hesitate
