Community Tasting Notes 4

July 21, 2020 - Wow, I think this one is right where it needs to be. Always rather happy when I buy these and haven't regretted a purchase yet. This wine's character is a lot of brambly cola, and it doesn't shy from this. Cola is one of my favorite notes in a wine, and this one has a ton of it. Front, middle, back, with herbal character and a hint of tart black cherry and ripe black cherry. Well balanced. Still has a bit of tannic character, but a lot of the tannin are resolving here so this one is starting to lose the armor. If you've got a 12 pack of these stashed, I'd start making plans on when/where to consume the first six, and keep the others around for another 2-3 yr. I think the drink window here on CT (2021-2024) is close to accurate. I'd say (2019-2023 probably more like it), but this one will probably hang around until 2030 but developing tertiary characteristics in the next 3-4 years.

September 25, 2019 - You gotta give this bottle some time. After the cork was popped, this one had a pretty funky tart characteristic to it and a metallic kind of character and acidity that was a little off-putting. After 30 minutes, totally different wine. Just ripened black cherry and oregano notes dominate the palate and the entry. Medium bodied wine. Not really all that complex. Nide acidity on the finish..some black pepper and cola. Went much better with Asian StirFry than it did alone. I think I will try to save the other bottle for a couple of years.

April 20, 2019 - We opened after consuming a Turley 2013 Dogtown and definitely a big let down. We had to set it aside, but it improved significantly a couple hours later and even more so the second day.

January 17, 2019 - ZAP TRADE TASTING, big fruit, hot on the nose, simple on the palate.
