  April 12, 2024 - Glass: Zalto Bordeaux
  Tasted 2 x 0,1l from a bottle opened a few days before. Beautiful Auslese R in the making, but not (yet ?) with the electrifying tension and energy I remembered the 2016 vintage when tasted at the winery. Never mind, needs another decade to unfold and for sure there is much to expect. 93-94+

  June 2, 2018 - Tasting the 2016s trocken bottlings (Weingut Koehler-Ruprecht, Kallstadt, Germany): The legendary "R" bottling of the 2016 Auslese trocken will be released in 2022, six years after the harvest like all the "Rs". We were very lucky that Dominik and Franzi opened a bottle of this rare bird (only 600 bottles are made in total). This is maybe the best dry Riesling from 2016 I tasted in a young stadium. So much precision, elegance but also power without being to broad. Also more on the white fruit side mixed with white flowers, almonds, a bit of herbs and tons of crushed minerals and spices. You have also the extract on the palate but it´s wonderful balanced. Lots, and I mean really lots of minerals in the super salty, endless after taste. I can absolutely see why the MFW guys rated this wine that high. A true highlight of the vintage. But five it time. 97++
