February 25, 2022 - Decanted 90 minutes. Always priced reasonably and excellent QPR is the highlight. That being said the wine is just average and nothing Earth shattering. Fairy simple and one dimensional compared to top Producers. Still it is enjoyable with food or by itself.

March 1, 2021 - Olivier Hillaire's 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape was sourced entirely from Grand Pierre and is comprised of 90% Grenache, with the balance made up of Syrah and Mourvèdre. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, during which time it continued to improve. Opaque ruby and highly aromatic, it delivers an olfactory profile of dark bramble fruits, kirsch, Provençal herbs, mulling spices and loamy earth. Full-bodied, ripe and heavily extracted, it still maintains a nice degree of freshness and balance with respect to alcohol (listed as 14.5%), sweet tannins and wood. The flavors mirror the nose and the mid-palate is lusciously dense. Finishing with impressive length, this is a hedonistic red that should evolve beautifully throughout the decade. Had I given it more time in decanter, it quite possibly would have merited an even higher score. Drink now-2030.

April 6, 2019 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whts, & 8 Reds] from 04/05/19 + 5 Shared Bottles (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Typically, 90% Grenache & 10% Syrah from the galet stone soils of Grand Pierre, Les Escondudes, Font de Michelle, & Mourre de Gaud; Destemmed & vinified for 30 days in concrete vats: Aged 9-13 mos in 2-3 year old 225-L & 400-600-L oak casks; Bottled unfined & unfiltered

Had been in a small tasting glass 3+ hrs before I got to it

N: Clsd; RIPE berries with notes of pyrazines; Intensity lurking?

P: Med body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by astringent pucker which pretty much resolves by the LONG, BALANCED finish with a tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. For now with food, & should drink at LEAST through '22, likely considerably longer. 14.5% ABV; My EXC-, poss EXC-/EXC. 94 pts WA, 15.5/20 Jancis Robinson (Hemming), & 3*(*)/5 [from casks] drinkrhone.com . [This vendor's $35.95 is a fairly stunning $7 < the lowest of wine-searcher's limited listings!]
