January 15, 2020 - Here I found a remarkably fresh expression, showing cool-toned bright cherry and strawberry, giving way to mature notes of leather, Tuscan earth, dusty spice, cedar and lifting dried florals. On the palate, I found silky textures, energized by vibrant acids as notes of spiced-orange peel, tart cherry, zesty savory-sweet spice, and hints of residual tannin settled upon the senses, in a mature yet amazingly fresh expression. The finish was long, spicy, fresh and floral, with a tug of zesty acids, a hint of residual tannin and lasting inner florals. Wow! I wish I had cases of this wine.

August 3, 2013 - A glorious bottle, immense colour, really vivid dark ripe fruit, refreshing acidity on the nose. Palate is wonderfully juicy and vibrant. Drinking perfectly - no sign of getting tired but when it tastes this good drink it!

March 21, 2012 - Petrolo & Poggio Scalette dinner, with Luca Sanjust and Jurij Fiore (Zafferano, London): From magnum.colour shows its age and was a bit cloudy ( although we think this is due to bad handling of the bottles by the restaurant ) Well aged wine but still alive and vibrant. Good palate presence, good red fruit notes and light oaky (?) feel to it. Still some life into it too but not a bad time to drink it. 92/93 but be aware of bottle quality

November 23, 2010 - Beautiful, concentrated wine with fall fruits, dried cherrries, fig and spice on the palate.
