November 14, 2020 - Initially blue and red fruited with a touch of spice. Tannins are present in the mid palate and finish. With more time in the glass the fruit backed off with a hint of game and forest floor. Burgundy truffles maybe?

November 8, 2014 - Light cherry with slight bricking in color, this wine showed black cherry, blackberry and damp earth on the nose. The mouth feel brought subtle tannins, bright red/black fruit and surprisingly bright acidity. The finish was medium/long in length with the fruit and acidity coming together beautifully.

Recently purchased for $29US (including shipping) from WineBid.com, this wine was my favorite of the night. At 10 years, it is singing right now and easily has another 3-5 years left.

Tasted at a special Le Cadeau Older Vintages dinner outside Wilmington, DE that I co-hosted at a friends house. Tom & Deb Mortimer, the owners of Le Cadeau, joined us to taste these treasures that all the attendees brought from their personal cellars.

August 1, 2013 - 2013 Post IPNC Tasting of 2004 OR Pinot (Matello Winery): Green olives on the nose, then pure dirty martini on the palette, finishing with a fresh cedar needles. a friend nailed this wine as a dirty martini. perfect description. I didn't know wine could err in this way.

July 29, 2013 - Post IPNC blind 2004 Oregon Pinot Noir tasting (Matello): Really weird nose, green olive and fresh evergreen needles with a hint of red fruit. The palate shows nice red fruit flavors with a long expression of late-hitting, firm tannins.

April 12, 2013 - PnP / Liked the nose best just after opening where some fresh fruit was still prevalent. Later the nose headed more in the green direction than I prefer and stayed there. I think this may have seen some stem inclusion. The palate offers cola and tart black fruit flavors. Not a lot of minerality. A little edgy on the palate for almost 10yrs old. Tanins are a bit chewy on the finish. My last btl and I'd drink up unless you've had these at 55 degrees or colder the whole time. Mine spent the last few years under the lower level stairs at 60-70 degrees. Don't see a lot of upside unless perfectly stored btls are better than mine.
