    February 12, 2024 - 15.0% abv. Light garnet color, clear core. Wild strawberry, rhubarb, guava, five spice, rooibos tea, distinctive cola notes that California Pinots are known for, but very subtle. Juicy acidity carries a med weight frame, flashes some tannins that shows on tip of tongue and roof of mouth, and finishes reasonably long with layered complexity. Quite showy and pleasurable, especially compared to its single vineyard brothers and sisters. Drink now and for next 3 years.

    January 13, 2024 - Didn't expect this Sonoma Coast Pinot turns out drinking more enjoyable than its big brother 2016 UV-SL. Maybe it could be bottle shock when I brought UV-SL to France as it tasted "flat" (lack of vibrancy and freshness).

    It’s a liquid red flower. Though this Sonoma Coast is not as extracted and ripe as UV-SL, this beauty reminds me of drinking a mini-Rayas with the characteristic of perfumy unfurling inside the palate with a mixture of slight stem and "sucrositi" flavor profile (mostly bright red fruits like strawberry) coupled with "translucent" red color. There is a hint of Asian spice (cinnamon and clove) notes in the finish.

    I think it is reaching toward its peak phase of drinking. It could cruise for a few years given its structure; the acidity profile (slight tarty finishing) and fine tannin coating the palate suggest it still has some life ahead.

    Rating: 95-97; 95++ 96 inches toward 97

    June 2, 2023 - Very clean and pure with its red and dark red fruits. Excellent mouthfeel and aftertaste. It's drinking well now and will for another year or two for sure. It was a a real joy to taste this mature Aubert effort.
