April 11, 2020 - Opened not decanted and served chilled. Strong exotic tastes of tropical fruit that are carmelized. The brown sugar and citrus that was so appealing when bottled now display an in your face sweetness and palate attack that is over the top in profile. If anything it reminds me of the Kosta Browne One Sixteen from several years ago (I only consumed the first two vintages) We gave the 2/3 filled bottle to a neighbor and gifted the other to another household also under quarantine. Both were enjoyed and appreciated. For us, it was not our style of wine.

September 20, 2018 - The wine is medium gold in the glass with a viscous quality. On the nose there’s peach, apple, and minerality. The palate features peach, pineapple, creme brûlée, and a sweet minerality. There’s an oak presence as well, though not overwhelming. Medium lemony acidity pervades the experience with a medium finish. Very nice, distinctive chardonnay but as good as Betwixt's pinots are, we were expecting a bit more complexity, elegance.

April 29, 2018 - Funny, as I gifted this bottle and the owner ended up sharing it back with me so it made a full circle. Have had several of these now during 2018 and I have a pretty strong sense of the wine, for sure. Aromatics of what I oddly called brown spices, something I would usually scrawl down for the oak imprint on Pinot Noir so I guess think of it as oak here. Pineapple and some vanilla, so some of that seductiveness again similar to recent bottles, yet the lemon underneath it that is what I believe will carry the wine and later when the oak sheds off result in a cool bottle of Chard. Drink now if you want that flash or let it age to perhaps allow the wine to get where I think it will head.

April 7, 2018 - Opened this bottle 6 days ago and I had some leftover under open cork that I had forgot about. Drinks like the previous bottle, with some new oak laying on top of lemon and pineapple. As I said with the last bottle, the core of this is very solid and delicious, with the oak needing time to soften in. Of note, when I served this 6 days ago, the group was primarily a non-geeky group of wine drinkers so the mix of new oak and citrus worked very well, as we I had to open 2 bottles of it. In that sense, this is very attractive at this stage for this kind of palate/crowd.

February 18, 2018 - Falltacular 2018--some TNs (My House In The South OC): Opened yesterday, kept cool overnight under opened cork. This is uniquely decadent, kind of intoxicating. A mix of some vanilla bean, lemon peel, cinnamon, spicy golden apple and long, lemony, spicy finish. There is something about this wine that grabs me, and it's not the barrel inflection but the underlying acid, the citrusy, lemony core that is here. I bet that when this wine sheds off some of the youth (as I believe it was just bottled this week) that something very cool is going to take shape. A watch and see wine.
