Community Tasting Notes 4

January 26, 2024 - Another beautiful bottle of this wine from this still under-appreciated family domaine. 4th bottle from a case purchased on release. Pale yellow in the glass. Minerals and acidity abound underneath bright lemon and citrus pith supported by pear and apple in the mid-palate. Long saline finish. More densely flavored than the color implies. Supremely balanced. I believe this is now a 1er Cru site and deservedly so! Still with room to improve. Any reductive notes previously present have melted away. Delicious!

March 23, 2023 - More lemon-citrus character on the nose. Nicely balanced wine, with the prominent acid needed to stand up to somewhat rich food. Very good.

November 24, 2019 - Jean-Pierre Reniard Burgundy Wine Seminar (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant): Tasted in Riedel white glass.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of fresh mint, green apples, lemon-lime, limestone minerality, touch of floral acacia. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), rounded medium+ body. Mouth-feel also quite rounded. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of cream peach, green mint, citrus lemon-lime, green apples, limestone minerality. Long finish.
Very good quality. Good weight and feels like it has the stuffing to age well over the next 4-5 years.

November 1, 2018 - Tasted with 2 members of the Thibert family in NJ both before and with dinner. This also was quite tightly wound and in need of age and air. It has a light to medium color which belied its depth of flavor and texture. Very high acidity makes it very bright and well structured but not easy to drink without some time in a decanter or the glass at this point. This will be spectacular with 6-10 years in the cellar (or more). It has a smokey attack that gives way to layers of minerals and then fruit from lemon to pear to quince and pineapple. Excellent with a pan seared salmon and buerre blanc sauce.
