Community Tasting Notes 4

October 24, 2021 - "Baby are you okay? You've barely touched your Char-spookerie." (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Incredibly floral nose, to the point where I thought this was viognier, but with acidity. The strangeness was having the aromatic intensity along with the acidity; a bit of a stumper, I couldn't think of anything that had that sort of profile. A good amount of alcohol on the back end as well. After the reveal, I'll admit that this wine made sense. Despite my distaste for sauvignon blanc these days, this didn't taste too much like it.

October 1, 2020 - Pop and pour, notes from 3 hrs open. As with the Pur Sang, this needs a lot of air right now. With air, this is stunning. Gooseberry, sour apple, lemon oil, mint leaf. On the palate: great density and richness, but balanced by fantastic acidity. Mint-infused oil, lemon peel, lovely herbal notes. Lovely, clean finish.

November 30, 2019 - Seems like this bottling is their rounder, richer and a bit flabbier though and sweeter rounder feel. Lacks a bit of focus and precision like Pur Sang & Silex. 89

September 16, 2018 - At dinner with my beautiful Bride so no copious notes. What can I say, it’s Dageneau. It’s sleek, elegant and expressive albeit way too young. Excellent aromas, body, structure, balance. Excellent Pouilly-Fume and worth the money. Sorry not much help beyond that.

Note: Please forgive my errant reference to white burg prior to this edit. It as an obvious ‘brain fart’ since the wine is from the Loire Valley. Thanks to Kirk for catching it and very tactfully asking why I referenced white burg.
