December 21, 2023 - 12/21/23-College football Bowl games. Cork intact, maybe 1/8th inch infiltrated. Almost has a slight gamay aroma. First sip was almost cherry like. Was not expecting that. Bright. Tannins low. Really reactive on tongue when swished.
Now open one hour. Wine has smoothed, cherry almost gone, starting to get the French syrah style more. Agree with others this needs time to open and evolve. Wine acts like a sponge you cram in a box but expands when you open the lid.
Now 24th. The doesn't exactly taste like a gamay but its similar and very slight. Still very bright. I don't have much experience with wines from this particular region so I don't know if this is typical. It's not bad but I was expecting more a syrah style, and this to me is more like a cross between a gamay and an Oregon pinot. Not a repurchase for me but willing to try more from Saint Joseph region. An observation. Had a peppermint candy, the soft ones that I used to see in doctors offices, the ones that dissolve instantly...and the cherry bright profile receded and the wine was much more enjoyable.1 person found this helpful Comment -

August 26, 2023 - Well balanced wine. Blackberry, pepper on the nose. Blackberry, granite ish, meaty on the palate. Nice acidity. This has the bones to go a while yet. Will stash other bottle for the down the road. Quality.

January 19, 2023 - In a very nice place right now. It took 30 min to fully open, but was a lovely mix of primary blackberry fruit, pine resin and tertiary savory notes. Great with lamb, it'll probably continue to develop for the next decade.

November 10, 2022 - No decant. Worth a try with at least 1 hr in big decanter.

September 1, 2022 - Seemed much more closed and shut down compared to last tasting, even after 3+hours of air (did not decant). Likely best 2024+. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 90.
