March 9, 2021 - Softer and more fruit-forward and floral, I’d like a bit more darkness and meat which does come a bit in the end. Still nice - 92-93 tops

    December 5, 2020 - Pop and pour.
Enjoyed with food (casarece past with chicken and sausage meatballs, in case you were wondering).
    Dark purple color.
Nose offers blackberries, black olives and a savory meat note.
Rich, dark fruits. Nice vibrancynto this wine. Acidity is fresh and hels lift the ripe dark fruits.
    Enjoyable.
Good clean syrah without the funky barnyard notes.

March 8, 2020 - Good gracious, this wine has some serious yum factor, especially on day #2. I did a head to head the night before with 2017 Pax Sonoma Hilsides. An interesting comparison. While both have a certain varietal correctness, the differences in winemaking are really palpable.

This wine is dark ruby and near opaque. Some violets and dark black fruits are on the nose. The wine is slightly creamy on the palate, and texturally smooth without being too glossy. There’s a bitter meatiness but not too much whole cluster greenness, and in fact, a kiss of vanilla wood on the lingering finish really closed the whole package well.

For the upcoming offering, I’m leaning toward less whole cluster for my personal preference. A recent bottle was too stemmy whereas this was just stellar and better in line with Mike’s style.

February 14, 2020 - Nicely balanced for the age. Will improve more, as the tannins could clearly unwind a bit, but no reason it can't be enjoyed now. Blue and dark fruit up front, and hint of olive and pepper but only just.
