June 30, 2022 - From Rocco at Vina Enoteca at the Barn at Stanford in Palo Alto, California.
THE BEST Italian food and wine on the Peninsula!

Rested upright for several days. Was clear.
    Cork was in perfect condition.

Decanted to about 6oz left in the bottle with sediment, which for me is a good sign as to the winemaker's philosophy.
Being a bigger wine at 15%abv, this did not smell or taste of that level octane.
It was in perfect balance. Quality. Worth the price.

As it was decanted big earthy notes wafted up.
Subtle cherries laid hidden behind the dry dirt, spices and bite of tart.

This was an excellent food wine, but could be enjoyed alone.
I paired with Salamino, salad, and rare beef.

There was subtle dry hill spices.
But as it opened up more, that big alcohol got in the way. It became hot and a touch heavy, even after chilling.
Which brought me back to why I love 12% wines.

But, this Pascale grape, wow, my first experiencing this from the famed island of Sardinia. Very delish, and natural!

Here is this cuvee, the trip started in the dregs. After the decanted bottle was finished with the meal, I swirled and poured out the dregs. Oh the nose, as it sported the deep, dense, musky cola, earthen tart rhubarb, nail polish. As it completes the evening, with a perfect sweetness, my mind roams and dives.
    Wine trip.
