  April 26, 2019 - This is a blend of Malbec, Pinot Noir and Bonarda from Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza and winemaker Marcos Fernandez. I found it a little unexpressive, and below the expectations, given that it had been awarded a Silver Medal at 2018 IWC. As a lover of Malbec, and drank my fair share of Bonarda while living in Argentina, I was expecting something with a bite, but maybe the Pinot mellowed the overall taste, with 30% Pinot, and 10% Bonarda in the mix. I read a reviewer comparing this to a Beaujolais Style, and I can understand where that is coming from. Hints of red fruits, maybe a bit of cherry in there too, and a touch of oak underlying everything. If you like your wines smooth, but without a lasting taste sensation, then this would be perfect, however, I was expecting a little more, and whilst I can respect the intent, it wasn't what I had hoped. That's not to say its not a good wine, especially at the price point, but Dona Paula produce some excellent stand alone Malbec's and that's where I would head to.
