Community Tasting Notes 19

  • Neecies Likes this wine:

September 18, 2019 - I believe I recall that Parker panned this wine. Well, whatever it was like young he was wrong about it now: it's gorgeous. Youthful dark color with garnet edges, heavenly nose with lots of garrique and leather, elegant Rhonish fruit on the midpalate and a long finish. The last and best of three bottles (others consumed in 2017): wish I had more.

  • Neecies Likes this wine:

September 24, 2017 - The best-drinking dates shown here seem supported by this bottle--though it came around somewhat over the two hours we drank it, the fruit stayed behind the acidity. Probably should have consumed it earlier.

  • Neecies Likes this wine:

February 11, 2017 - PnP. Soft and subdued on first opening and didn't think it would get better, but in fact it improved considerably over two hours and I look forward to my remaining bottles. Next time: decant for two hours.

January 4, 2014 - Possible slight VA in the nose. Closed on opening, was able to coax out some interesting and broad dark fruit and not much else.

March 9, 2013 - Last notes on 3/22/11 so it's been 3 years since last bottle. Nose: Very cool nose of assorted subtle herbs, cement, spice and antique dresser drawer. Palate: Acidity most dominant with most of the fruit gone with very soft tannins and traces of dark fruits. Light to medium length finish. Last bottle of this and the fascinating nose is easily the star of the show, however, the solid acidity contrasted well with the Tilapia fillets and fresh salad w/ Asiago Peppercorn dressing.
