March 30, 2019 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whts, & 8 Reds] from 03/29/19 + 5 Shared Reds (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 92.2% S.B. (20+ yr old vines) & 7.8% Semillon (5 yr old vines) grown in the rich clay loam soils of the Freemark Abbey Wilson Ranch – St. Helena (49.6%), Yount Mill – Yountville (42.6%), & Oakville Reach – Lower Cardinale – Oakville (7.8%) Vyds; "60% s/s fermentation @ 50-62° F for 14 days, & 40% barrel fermentation @ 68-72° F for 7 days; No malolactic fermentation;" Aged in "s/s & neutral FR oak barrels; Aged in Barrel: 47 days;" 13.9% ABV, "Dry", 0.60g/100ml T.A., & 3.41 pH; 2,302 cases bottled March 2018.
N: Fragrant flowers slightly atop grass with undertones of vanilla?
P: Med body; Very RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by some ALMOST astringent acidity which directs the orchestra through the LONG, VERY slightly tangy, bitter/swt (65:35) finish. NEEDS time to lose the finishing firmness? Otherwise, my VG/VG+. 90 pts Suckling. [Check with this vendor if interested in their COMPETITIVE price.] -

January 26, 2019 - Decent Sauvignon Blanc. Very crisp. A bit tangy. Enjoyable.

June 4, 2018 - My initial notes from last night: Soft and round. Missing any edge. Quaffable but not exciting.
A well done wine but it's missing any form of zest or lift. It's very consumer friendly but at a lower price point. I know some is barrel aged and this wine typically shows more mouthfeel than other SB but it's lacking some of the exciting parts of SB. I feel the '16 had more of the exciting qualities that could make the wine stand out and still be approachable to the general public.
