February 15, 2021 - I would like to score this higher (but its tough). The nose is raspberries and a little barnyard (which more or less blew off after an hour or so). Pale red (I've had rose's with more color), thin fruit (there's a raspberry in there somewhere if I could only find it), sourish (think cranberry) finish. Overall, there's a certain "harmony" to this wine which makes it drinkable (not withstanding all the previous parentheticals), but at $35 (ok so I'm a sucker) from my favorite Portland (Oregon) wine store, I can't really recommend it to anyone (sorry). Enough (said).

January 31, 2019 - -- decanted 15 minutes before initial taste --
-- tasted non-blind over a few hours on Day 1; re-visited on Days 2 and 7 --
-- score is from Day 1 --
NOSE: cherry, with a hint of citrus; pleasant spices (likely oak-derived); floral hint; I could easily mistake this for a Pinot Noir if served blind.
BODY: violet-garnet color of light depth; clear; light to medium-light bodied.
TASTE: 13.2% alc. not noticeable; quite light; high acidity; red-fruited, with moderate bitterness on the finish; light concentration of fruit; very light oak; there is very little in the way of stuffing here: many Bourgognes have more depth; the couple Schuster wines I've had are better (and cheaper); no tannin; Ashley likes this more than I --- she'd be happy to pay up to $35, whereas I am unhappy having paid $30. This did put on some weight and depth over the following days, representing a slight improvement over Day 1, but I'm still not impressed. Drink Now or Hold.

January 15, 2019 - P&p. Good stuff, and very similar to the 2013 from what I recall. Pungent and delicious. Salted barely ripe blueberries, flower petals (iris/rose?), black pepper, and citrus peel, with good acidity. Tannins are quite moderate, and it doesn't seem to need any more; plenty of substance, and the acidity holds everything together. Weightless, seemingly Burgundian texture. Slightly bitter citrus peel finish, almost like Campari. Nice!
