November 4, 2020 - Super fun night... thx to @srwatters for coming over and bringing some delicious bubbles and adding to my 2008 collection... hmm which one to drink 1st? How about that amazing 1977 @ridgevineyards #yorkcreek #springmountain #napacounty .... #wow a #1977 my birth year... what an amazing privilege! It was pretty spectacular... drank well for the 1st hour but really blossomed in the 2nd hour. Drinking it next to the 96 @chateau_chasse_spleen you’d say the Ridge was the younger wine... drank more like an 05 or 06... whilst I wouldn’t say it had plenty of life left in it, this is how you’d want to find a 43 yr old wine! Just really smooth, with some stewed fruits and some mellow earth... special special treat! Let do that again please!

February 18, 2017 - My 40th Birthday Weekend; 2/17/2017-2/20/2017: Wonderful old claret with a medium body, fully resolved tannins, a little spice left over from that American oak, and lovely berry and earth aromatic profile, with touches of tobacco and ash.

October 25, 2015 - Dark, practically opaque red-to-maroon color with clear, dried blood red rim; some sediment, so decanting is recommended. Complex and developed bouquet with mainly tertiary aromas of dried cassis, figs, smoke, dried flowers, dust, tobacco and a hint of leather; very Margaux-like. Full-bodied and concentrated mouthfeel with haunting, mature and savory flavors of juicy dark fruits, figs, prunes, some dust, sweet spice and a hint of cedar; underneath one can find a plethora of fleeting nuances that are simply impossible to grasp. Balanced acidity and smooth, velvety tannins that give a nice sense of grip. Very long, complex and slightly astringent finish that is a bit sweeter than the midpalate; flavors of dried prunes, dried flowers, leather, nutmeg and dry wood in the layered aftertaste.

An Incredible and delicious aged Cali Cab that is still in wonderful condition after 35 years; very hard to tell whether this is an aged, old-school Bordeaux or not! As this is not Monte Bello, but "only" a basic level Napa Cab made from purchased grapes, the price:quality-ratio of the wine is incredible at $50 for a bottle. A perfect example of the quality of Ridge Vineyards and how their wines are capable of extended cellaring.

February 11, 2015 - Dinner with JonnyG, again: Truffle and earth, some meatiness and old wood. There is some sweet fruit that remains on the palate, there is still some structure and while this is holding onto life, it is time to drink these I'm sure.

August 3, 2014 - Very cool. Color was dark red/ black. Classic Cali cab with smooth tannin. Cassis and red fruit with some tertiary development. I really love 70s Cali cab.

(Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon York Creek) Group's #2 (my #1) – 82 pts; 5, 2, 3, 1 – sexy, intriguing tobacco and dried plum nose; juicy, tasty, mature plum and cherry Cab fruit with sweet, firm tannins; long finish (faded in the glass after 90 minutes; I gave this one the edge in our tasting based on the nose and long finish, but the Keenan easily bested it after 2 hours in the glass)
