April 29, 2024 - Very nice on the nose when opened, oak, berries, violet. Medium to full body with bitter finishing. A decent one seems to have a lot of potential but need more complexity on the palate. Tried on day two also, still a lot on it. Very nice wine.

January 21, 2024 - Strong leafy, earthy and spicy notes, nicely balanced with medium tannins right out of the bottle, but benefited from a short decanting and some glass time. Another reviewer mentions notes of green bell pepper which I also noticed and was happy when they mellowed as it breathed. wonder if this is related to destemming, crushing, using a perhaps less technology centric approach to wine making… The rustic quality of the wine was in the end quite endearing as it’s more delicate nature was revealed over time. This is one worth a repeat, a compare/contrast with a similar California Bordeaux blend, or even a vertical tasting as a previous reviewer experienced… good fun and thought provoking!

November 15, 2023 - Nose: Blackberry steaminess. Palate: More stemmy blackberries with the dark fruity side of cabernet sauvignon really coming through, grape skin; overall, has a mellow and one-dimensional mouthfeel; honestly, it reminds me of the wine I used to make out of Mattawa WA (which isn't necessarily a compliment).

May 15, 2023 - After buying into a case of the ‘19, of which is in a league of its own for this label, I went for the next-oldest vintage: that being the ‘17. 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot on this vintage - 60% new oak. Opened up very sharp, needed about 2-3 hours before I even considered a true pour. Once it oxidized for a bit, it started to show some life, plenty of fruit - blending black and red fruits seamlessly - notes of plum, blackberry, and boysenberry. There’s kicks of oak, mineral, and vanilla, with a tremendous amount of spice, making this unique enough to justify its price point. Excited to dive into the highly rated/talked about ‘19 in the coming year(s), I can see why Dufort is starting to pick up steam.
