January 25, 2024 - G5; 4*+8.5+4*+8*+8*+4*+4*=92 14.1% alc. Side by side with 2015 (vintage comparison). This has all the richness and fruit depth that would be expected in a great Pinot Noir from a riper vintage. This is NOT fruity, but trends darker berry and cherry which were channeled nicely into being a wonderful wine by good acidity, tannin and earth structure. I would not expect this to cellar as long as the 2015, but it is ready to drink now and should hold well for 5-10 years. Day 2 this is doing quite well with the aromatics holding better than the 2015. I stopped buying Argyle wines after the 2016 vintage, but I must say, this 2015 and 2016 comparison raises their stock a bit. Part of that is the Nuthouse is an Eola-Amity Hills AVA, which I think may be the best AVA in Oregon and takes several years of cellaring to show well.

September 29, 2021 - Some burnt Orange and pencil lead on the nose. Light body, darker garnet color. Orange and lilac flavor with a chocolate cherry candy finish. A nicely assembled wine.

November 3, 2020 - Nose is spicy and bright bright red fruit. Body is awash with crisp acid. Palate is a lot more of those spices, primarily nutmeg, maybe some cardamom. With the acid, the red fruit comes out as cranberry. Finish aerates the acid, but it’s soft, so it warms through the finish.
