May 11, 2018 - Dinner with Tim, Elliott, Rajiv, and Roger; 5/9/2018-5/11/2018 (San Francisco): Aromatic, spice, ripe cherry, clove, anise; palate is medium bodied, fresh medium acidity, balanced alcohol, mature cherry and red fruit; medium finish. Just a lovely, lovely wine, at maturity but doesn’t feel at all old. 91

May 11, 2018 - Dinner with Tim, Elliott, Ashish, and Roger (Tim's): beautoful! Medium minus ruby. Expressive nose of Brett, slight manure, hints of pure blackberry liqueur. detailed slightly dried blackberry, perfumed VA notes. This is just so awesome.
Medium bodied, 14% alcohol, beautiful elevat d acid, elevated tannins - chewy and well developed. Long finish.

February 21, 2018 - Coravin 2/21/18: Medium clear ruby, slight sediment in the glass with the Coravin; aromatic, red cherry fruit, dusty spice, cloves; palate is medium bodied, medium tannins that are mostly integrated, red fruits, a tad simpler than the nose but really well balanced; medium length finish. This is a really nice Sangiovese-based wine, showing really well now and seems at a good stage of maturity, with more complex aromatics than expected, slightly held back by a simple but well balanced palate, and showing no heat at all for a 2003. Superb wine, drink now. 90

January 14, 2018 - I’m totally biased bc this is my favorite Tuscan wine. This was a bottle purchased from k&l, drank with elliott, Roger, and hollis. Out of the bottle it was incredible—clovey, spiced, preserved cherries and lavendar, and intensely aromatic. I decanted this and there was just a little sediment left in the bottle. Palate was full and fresh—m+ acid, beautiful silky body, and long finish. Flavors of real maraschino cherries, Christmas spice, flowers, leather, and all sorts of other fruity and savory complexity. The comparison to Musar is somewhat inevitable...it’s like some of my favorite developed versions of that. Color is m+ ruby with garnet rim. For 2003 being a super hot vintage, this wine is so well judged!! Not lacking any desired acid on the palate.

October 12, 2007 - A traditional style Chianti Classico from Castelnuovo Berardenga(SI- ITA).Ruby pale colour (like a modern Pinot Noir) very interesting nose, ripe fruits, cherry, black cherry, black pepper. The entrance is smooth, well balanced, round and with a good acidity.Quite long persistance. If you consider that 2003 is a rough vintage
this is a completly success, definitely a good value. Can be cellared for 5/6 years more.
