April 6, 2024 - Charles Lachaux lunch (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Magnum. Pure and bright, real finesse, wonderfully fragrant, steely acidity, gentle but firm tannins, masculine elegance, flowing and complex, attractive hint of sweet oak, long and dreamy finish. Gevrey at its most refined.

November 19, 2023 - There is definitely some thiol aromas (vegetables and funky stuff), so the wine needs about a two hour decant. After that it’s all about black and red forest fruit, spices, sous bois, wet earth and classic Gevrey animalistic note.
Unlike some other examples that I have tasted recently there is no new world sweetness or detectable new oak. The style is definitely funkier and more traditional.
Yet another great and truly interesting wine from Burgundy.
