January 2, 2021 - Savory N. Rhône style. Excellent balance, complexity. Unsmoked cigar nuance. Drinking well day two. Strong mid palate, long finish. Tannin is soft. Fruit is maybe in decline now as this feature is in the background. Drink soonish.

March 26, 2020 - Even knowing that it's a collab between Aussie and French producers, I was really surprised to see how much this resembled a cross between a Northern Rhone syrah and a bigger, thicker Aussie-style example.

Nose started off very peppery, meaty, smoky; pepper steak with traces of herbs such as rosemary and lavender, surrounding dark-chocolate-covered blueberries. Savory, complex, not over-the-top. But the palate had that warm rush of fruit found in these older Aussie Shiraz's- redcurrant, mulberry, a bit jammy but with some energy left.

Over time the nose got even better as the blue-black fruit came out from behind the smoky tones a little bit, along with interesting notes of cigar and light vanilla oak. Was never very powerfully scented, but definitely nice. Unfortunately the palate became more jammy as it brightened, making it a little less pleasant/balanced.

Very interesting wine, and good QPR around the $35 I paid for it. But I'm not sure the unique cross between the Rhone and Aussie styles works entirely in its favor. I was missing some of the nuance of a Rhone on the palate, or the unbridled power of other early 2000's Shiraz bottles (I know Victoria isn't known for powerhouses such as in the Barossa, but here I felt like the balance was actually too much in the middle.)

December 22, 2014 - Good showing of fruit and oak but a little too acidic and dry. Nice hint of vanilla. Was expecting more from this. Long finish.

February 22, 2013 - A solid wine for what it is, a dryish Austrailian offering. I thought it screamed Australia. Nothing stood out, but noted no flaws per se. If this were to be tasted next to a North Rhone wine, I don't think there would be a lingering doubt as to which one was Old World. I didn't think this wine was notably better than the same producer's Shiraz - Viognier 2010.

September 10, 2012 - Fruit on the nose. Unremarkable. It was just okay.
