December 10, 2022 - This is day 2 leftovers of about 1/2 bottle from a gathering last night. Unfortunately, I think this is mildly corked. Mild bir definir aroma of wet cardboard and not much else. Palate w rich, ripe blackberries, nice acids, a bit of earth and not much else. Full body w moderate tannins and good acids. Nice finish that echoes the palate with some heat at the end. Certainly a Napa Merlot w its ripe fruit but also w some structure and on no way flabby. Too bad about the TCA bc it's well amde for it's style.

November 2, 2022 - Still one of the greatest Merlots produced in California! This is a dark and serious wine, full of intrigue and complex aromas. Blackberry, black cherry, espresso, savory spice accents of rosemary and eucalyptus, and a finale of cocoa and cherry cola. This is in great balance and the tannins, while still present are the supporting act and not the star of the show anymore. Keenan’s merlots are built to age and blend the boundaries of old world and new world wines quite well. By the way, this isn’t even their “reserve” Merlot! Bravo
