July 16, 2023 - Still drinking really well. had it alongside a 2018 Lauren, and nobody could tell this was 18 years old.

September 4, 2021 - Method: splash decanted, rebottled and consumed 2 hours later; Grassl 1855

Look: medium gold; medium amount of very slow legs; low turbidity

Nose: minerality, salt rock, yellow apple, light lemon; expressive

Palate: Meyer lemon, minerality, yellow apple, honeysuckle, light caramel, light salinity; long- finish of flint, gun smoke, white pepper, mineral, light copper; dry; medium- body; high- acidity; low- superfine tannin

Update on Night 2: didn't take note, but it evolved very nicely overnight with a really nice butterscotch note and more roundness.

Overall thoughts: This is the oldest Aubert I've had an I'm really surprised and impressed. I was worried it might be a little past its prime, but it was actually much more youthful than I was expecting. It showed very Burgundian to me on the first day, with a ton of minerality higher acidity, and a nice little grip from a bit of tannin. However, on day 1, it showed quite younger than I prefer and was more about potential for me. During this initial taste, I scored the wine 89 points (i.e., very good) with good upside.

The wine showed its age much more on day two and I probably would've scored it 92 - 93 point had I taken notes. Taken together, I'll bump my score to a 90 for now, with a good amount of upside -- maybe 93+ in the future. Great wine that I would wait 5 or so years before trying again.

May 2, 2020 - The last of these. Pretty well mature. The apply fruit is fading and the nutty and caramel notes are starting to come on. I like some slight oxidation so I enjoy this, however there is not enough acidity to keep cellaring. I would drink these if you have them.. have enjoyed all of these. Great evolution. Would prefer a bit more structure.

January 19, 2019 - SO'd for an hour, deep gold, very Burgundian & would have guessed 15-20 yrs old; delicious & ready to drink

Overruled by the brown bag group who felt that this was probably premoxed or some other flaw
