January 1, 2024 - I wasn't sure what to expect given some of the other notes and was afraid to open too early so opened right before dinner. Terrific, our first bottle of this and we really liked it. It's rich and powerful but well balanced ... needs the right pairing, went very well with standing rib roast. Drank over 2 hours and didn't enjoy it any less at the end.

April 5, 2023 - Appearance: Medium+ ruby with garnet hues
Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity aromas of black cherry, blackberry, dried fig, leather, tobacco, baking spices, and dried herbs.
Palate: Dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol, full body, medium+ tannins. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, fig, leather, tobacco, clove, cinnamon, and thyme. A long, complex finish.
Quality: Outstanding. This wine is well-structured and balanced, with intense, complex aromas and flavors that are harmoniously integrated. The high alcohol and tannins are balanced by the wine's fruit. Ready to drink now.

December 25, 2022 - Agree with previous tasters that this was better on pop and pour. The weightlessness of the wine stood out, the elegance pointed clearly towards a great maker. Unfortunately turned rather plummy and soft with air, chocolate notes that I dislike started to show.

  • SARED Does not like this wine: 91 points

May 1, 2022 - Nose of raisin and VA, with the VA becoming more prominent over time. Roasted dark red fruits with very lifting acidity, but over time VA became more prevalent and a green weedy note popped up on the palate. This particular bottle needed to be consumed off the pop-and-pour, with a couple hours of air not doing it any favors. Not my preferred style, and didn't really want another glass when it was falling apart. But still really well made with refreshing acidity, so 91-92

February 25, 2022 - Known as godfather of Amarone, blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, aged in Slavonian oak for 7 years. Medium intensity rich aroma of dried cherries, plums, chalky earth, dried rose petals and orange peel, cocoa hints, liquorice, spices. Full body, fragrant and elegant, flavours are as rich and seducing as aroma, supported by medium light acidity and well integrated and structured grained tannins, everlasting finish with dried cherry and caramel nuances.
