Community Tasting Notes 12

February 19, 2024 - A big tannic wine with nice depth. Around this time last year I was mistaken when I thought this may not improve as it most certainly has.

January 30, 2023 - Gave a long decant to this massive and dense wine. Earth and oak notes. No change in flavor from four months prior, not sure this will improve.

November 16, 2022 - Fruit had loosened up and had matured, and the tight tannin was moderate and smooth and dry. While this is now the second 92 I have given, I was hoping this vintage would meet several of the others I have tasted, it does not.

October 8, 2022 - Periodically sampling this still young but long-lived red. Fragrant bouquet and bone dry. Hearty, striking richness and density, muscular and powerful but not complex. No wow factor yet like the 2008 had, but after a few hours in the glass it did show its potential down the road. At this writing suggest 4 hour decant.

  • DDicaprio Likes this wine: 90 points

March 28, 2022 - First taste after an hour decant: Very dry, not as good as and with less fruit then the 2008. Austere, powerful, rich and dense, with fine tannins, Drinkable now, it's still young but had to give it a try.
