October 27, 2013 - Decanted 1 hour. Deep maroon. Really nice nose with some subtle blue/black fruit and cocoa. Medium weight in palate with some fruit and mild tannins. Nice finish. Did not hold up well to food (pot roast/roasted veggies) but was showing great after. I don't see it getting any better and will probably start to wane (if isn't already).

November 20, 2011 - A little too much oak showing at this stage, comes across a little flabby. Pleasant smooth plummy, dark cherry fruit, but lacks verve and complexity. Not really worth aging based on this showing, probably showed better younger.

September 23, 2009 - Porty base notes driven by juicy acidity and vague but honest, enjoyable fruit; subtle secondary nuances. Not bad (but not great) after 24 hours in a sealed bottle without preservative.

June 28, 2009 - Drank this bottle three ways - half of the bottle was decanted for an hour, half sat in the bottle uncorked, and some was tasted right after opening.
Upon opening, the bouquet was muted. Cherry and licorice on the nose. Dark fruit and spice on the palette with good mouthfeel. Back end well balanced with light oak and tannins. Lovely finish that lasted 30-45 seconds. Earthy notes on bouquet and palette also came through after a couple of minutes.
The decanted sample was a completely different wine. The oak overpowered everything, and for me it was unpleasant. Thankfully, I didn't decant the entire bottle because what was remaining still held up to the initial tasting. By now the bouquet was less muted, but it drank pretty similarly to the inititial tasting. Paired with grilled top sirloin steak.
I drank the remaining decanted sample 5 hours after opening and the wine was falling apart. The alcohol was harsh, although the oak had died down a little. -

April 5, 2009 - I really enjoyed this bottle and agree with the WS score. Upon opening a big core of black cherry with tannins that are present but not harsh. Bottle sat for 4 days before finishing and held up pretty well, although the flavors got a little zinny.
