January 23, 2024 - This wine really came alive after about an hour in the decanter. I snuck a glass when it was opened, and it was tight and tannic. But with some air, it was great.
I think it could go at least until 2027, if not a few years after that. This bottle was purchased at Kermit Lynch in Berkeley, CA (shameless plug) which does a great job of importing wines from lesser known regions. I don't know much about the Languedoc-Roussillon region, but if this wine is any indication... -

December 27, 2023 - Third bottle of this wine.
I do not agree with the "mousiness" descriptors used for this wine.
What I taste here is the rather rustic and strong aromas from this wine that I associate with the garrigue and this particular varietal mix.
This remains a beautiful expression and one of the better L-R wines that I have tasted along with Peyre Rose.
The tannins have softened considerably over the last couple of years and this is drinking really well right now. No hurry though... -

October 21, 2023 - This bottle was horribly off. Too bad. Standard Barral hit-or-miss.

September 22, 2023 - I poured off a glass of this in the morning to let it get air. Given the possible mousy qualities of this, I wanted to make sure that when I got back it was all systems go or a drain pour. Good thing this was all systems go as it poured a dark ruby color. The nose was pungent, yet balanced with strawberries, crushed rocks, savory herbs, black fruits, violets, licorice, dark red cherries, dark spices, a touch of funky notes, and tobacco. The Medium/full bodied feel is well balanced and polished with medium acidity and silky, medium tannins. If you get a clean bottle, this is drinking beautifully and right in a great spot right now.
