  January 29, 2024 - Drinking these very old premier grande crux Bordeaux wines and making love to a 60-year- old courtesan. She may be over the hill, but the experience is still splendid.
  
  If there were ever evidence that waiting a long time for great vintages is a wonderful concept, here it is.

  February 7, 2020 - Dinner with L&C: An incredible experience - 54 year old wine. Top half of cork in great shape, but it broke half way down and the bottom half was soft and crumbly. Decanted very carefully, left for an hour then drank over two hours. Opened up progressively over that period. Complex and enticing nose with strong oak element, perfectly resolved on the palate. Subtle dried red fruits, tea leaf, tobacco. Remarkable freshness and energy. Very long and lovely on the finish, everything in harmony held out in time. Amazing.

  September 14, 2013 - Saved this for a family dinner before my oldest left for college, while it was past its prime it still was very nice, balanced throughout, the tannins had fully softened, the bouquet dissipated almost immediately, we all enjoyed it for the occasion.

  May 29, 2012 - Sampled 5/28/12. The fill was top shoulder and the cork was depressed, not great signs. After removing the foil, the cork was clearly soaked all the way through. The cork could not be removed because it was only going in one directly a quick slide into the bottle. Color has some rust but no real bricking. The nose made me think past peak, but on the palate the wine was much younger and not so much past peak. Leather, mushrooms, slightly burnt blueberries, and sweet vanilla Oak all come through. A solid 88/89 point wine in this condition that deserves a 90 for its ageworthiness. By the way, even after 3 hours, the wine was still in fine form.

  July 11, 2010 - Faultless. Truly amazing bottle. 1966 -- bottle from original passive basement storage, then held in Eurocsve for 1 year. Cork was disintegrated. Dark blue color, watery rim but overall presententation was of a 10-15 year old St Emilion. Deep nose, pure, no Brett, no animal, no basement. Just pure. Hard to say much except it has velvet tannins, incredible balance and length beyond expectation. This wine was off the charts among an eclectic group including 1998 Ausone, 1990 Montrose and 1979 Margaux.
  
  This wine was not a product of low yields, stainless tanks nor new oak or replanted vineyards. I love Pavie. THIS Pavie. And it is a beautiful St Emilion.
