April 11, 2016 - Finest Provenance Possible - Tasted at Winery

The Jackass Hill terroir shows through the alcohol with strong apricot aromas and flavors. Also some stone fruit. Sexy and extreme. Incredibly big and incredibly lush. Massive but not ungraceful. Sweet stewed peppers. A finish that recalls apricots on the grill.

March 2, 2013 - Dense, powerful, big, dark, ripe, viscous, and oozing fruit. After a couple of hours in the decanter not hot at all despite the ridiculous alcohol. Not everybody's wine, but quite remarkable. I drank this alongside the 2001 - chalk and cheese (the 2002 was the chalk). The 2001 was light and delicate in comparison.

September 1, 2012 - Nose of blackberry and briar patch. Dark fruit with hints of molasses. Chewy and well integrated. Much better the 2nd day after one hour in decanter. This is a fruit bomb with a 30 second finish

June 21, 2012 - A little too much heat on the finish or I would rate higher.

October 18, 2011 - One of the biggest, baddest, meanest wines you can imagine. Love it. It makes no apologies for what it is. Big, ripe, fat, runs like molasses from the bottle. Much darker in flavors than Zinfandel normally tastes.
