February 4, 2023 - This is right up my street. Dark and rich with a hint of furniture polish but then finishing grippy and clean. More like a Verdelho than a Bual in terms of sweetness which is probably why I like it so much but it has that added benefit of Boal's aromatics - marzipan, boot polish and dried fruits, it smells like liquid stollen. This isn't subtle, but it punches all my Madeira buttons, especially the 'sweet and sour' hit that I crave. Of my recent frasquiera purchases, it's also the lowest price at £122 per 75cl on the table. A definite rebuy at this price.

October 17, 2018 - Blandy's masterclass with Chris Blandy (Chicago, IL): Bottled 2018. High-toned, with some nice citrus and tropical tones. Some varnish as well? The palate is sweeter than the extremely austere 1985 sercial, but this still doesn't have the full breadth that I like in madeira. Despite the richer designation, to me, this made in a leaner style that I'm not too fond of.
