December 12, 2023 - Very nice and supple. Fruit fading a bit, but still tasty. Medium weight, at best. Was best immediately out of the bottle - faded as the evening went on. Drink now.

December 2, 2023 - A great wine. In the beginning there was slightly too much maturity on the nose but that disappeared over time. Black and red cherry, blueberry, leather, tobacco. A nice, complex wine with a long finish in its top drinking window.

July 19, 2023 - Magical. This wine really holds up to time in the cellar. Great vintage, great bottle. Garnet color, full secondary and tertiary aromatics, long and enjoyable finish. Wish I had more. Oh wait! I see one more bottle!

May 2, 2023 - Return to Italy: Pio Cesare, Gaja, Oddero, Tignanello and more (Flour Shop, Charlotte, NC) (Charlotte, NC): Double decanted 3 hours before serving (lots of sediment). Wonderfully complex old world nose teasing great depth of flavor on the pallet. Sadly this was not confirmed on the pallet as the juice was comparatively simple and jammy. In the moment I wrote: “good, not great, wine” but I think it is my olfactory biases that elevated this to a “good” rating. It was a fine wine but out of place on the night. “Hardly an Italian wine” was accurately uttered.

March 2, 2023 - Not clear color , Dark with waterly edge. The nose said something about the age : leather , tobacco and the Cab. notes. For sure a Old wine , but not too Old. Really Big in taste and the class of this wine was shining through. Late but not too late. I have some 04 & 07 , will try soon…
