  September 1, 2023 - Barbaresco is a region in Piedmont, Italy that is famous for its powerful Nebbiolo-based wines that age brilliantly. Like Barolo, these wines are known for having intense floral aromas that contrast with their big beefy tannins, but there is a point of departure from Barolos, as Barbarescos are a bit lighter in style and have more delicate tannins than their next door neighbors. This difference is often attributed to the region having fertile limestone-based soils and a slightly milder climate.
  
  Pale ruby in color, this wine offers a pronounced nose of ripe red cherry and fresh red raspberries accompanied by black tea, star anise, graphite, a bit of leather, and something floral in there that is hard to decipher (I am admittedly terrible at identifying specific floral notes). Upon sipping, one meets a dry, medium-to-full-bodied wine with high alcohol, medium-high acid, and punchy high tannins that linger on the front of the gums. The attack features a flash of red plum before being joined on the midpalate by ripe red cherry, raspberry, graphite, leather and black tea. After a few sips, star anise begins to make an appearance as the wine continues to open up. The finish is moderately long and very tannic, starting off with red cherry, which transitions to black tea and leather before leaving a long tannic afterglow.
  
  Overall a good wine! It is still a little young and could stand to have a few years of ageing; its fruit is intense enough that it will not fade into obscurity, the flavor profile could benefit from some tertiary notes, and the tannins are still a bit rough. That being said, it is an enjoyable wine and it went quite well with a pasta with red sauce. Definitely recommend enjoying this with some kind of fatty food to smooth out the tannins.

  Not very opened right now, but the aromas really opens up during the aeration, with flowery, jasmine, rose style, little red fruits and berries...
  
  Palate is fresh and zesty, with a tight tannic backbone, not a large wine, more linear and fresh, with a salty finish, quite young ad ripe tannins, well felt on the front.
  
  Really needs a bit of time the fruit flavors and minty/eucalypt/ herbs aromas are tremendous and really appealing.
  
  Superb wine in maybe 6/8 years, or a good decanting

  May 21, 2022 - The wine was dark ruby burnt orange with clear rim. initially austere very tight but after a half hour began to open with dark fruit aromas and a slight hint tar. Medium plus body the wine exhibit sweet plum and black cherry with a lilac overtone. Very supple yet rich mouthfeel. Finish was long with an almost creamy texture. Very nice wine.

  March 15, 2022 - So not ready to drink yet. But I couldn’t resist. Decanted 8 hours and it helped some. Quite light in color but not in taste. Very tannic and acidic at this point. But the last glass showed the potential. Lovely fruit shining through and I look forward to the future.

  March 9, 2021 - I bought one extra to try. I’m going to follow this wine over the next few days to see how it unfolds. Pop into a decanter. Very small glass. Very translucent magenta color. Almost no nose, so I started to swirl it. After a few minutes I’m getting faint cherries. It is so balanced and the tannins are completely hidden by the fruit. It’s like the other ‘16 Nebbiolo’s that I’ve tried. Deceptively drinkable and you can feel the power forming. A few hours on and the wine is opening up. Bits of rosemary, leather, mint and sage arrive. The tannins are still buried and do not spoil the impeccable balance. Like a great Burgundy. This is going to become a tremendous wine with 10 -15 years in the bottle. Strawberries are emerging on the long finish. Wow. A few hours on -the tannins are starting to rear their head, not unexpected but the the delicate qualities of this wine are just so beautiful. Such perfect balance with transparent fruits is amazing. I wish I could find more than I have already bought. So I was going to follow this wine for a few days but is so damm drinkable that I can’t stay away from it. I have been tasting young wines for 30 years and I’ve never, never tasted a young Nebbiolo that is so refined and civilized as this baby. It’s a year since my initial tastes of these ‘16’s and I’m just amazed that they are not dominated by searing tannins. ? I'm sure that they will shutdown hard and need their sleep.
