April 23, 2011 - This shows the vintage's power and the village's finesse, perfect now if you're looking for a reasonably straightforward mature volnay.

January 1, 2009 - Quite dense but limpid blood/ruby. Broad paler rim shows some bricking. Initially sulphurous nose soon blows off to reveal a slightly high-toned, vibrant, red-fruited nose. Intense sweet griotte fruit at the core, overlaid with oak spice, floral touches and a little sousbois. Mouth entry is round and full, with a silky texture underpinned by a firm tannic structure. Good balance and freshness, and a nice earthy tone offsetting the fruit. Finish is firm and sweet and of good length, but lacks sophistication. ***
