May 12, 2022 - Truffles and raspberries and cherries. Astonishingly silky and sensual - a kind of massage, a kind of gentle back rub. Very sensual and tactile. I still can't believe the youthfulness. It has density and richness as well as vigour and nerve and energy. But it's a 2005! Crazy. For sure this will give so much more in the future.

December 5, 2020 - Wow, stunning nese. Elegant fra topp til tå. Kjerne av rød bringebærfrukt. Roseblader. Forbausende lys og elegant i stilen. Samme i munn. Lett på tå. Mørkere her enn på duft. Spicy og med særdeles subtile tanniner som føles veldig ferske for alderen. Det samme gjelder vinen forøvrig. Selv om den er relativt tilgjengelig, er det ingen utviklingsaromaer.

May 9, 2016 - Vosne 1er Cru Dinner (Nikki's): Another solid 2005 Malconsorts - a couple of steps behind the stunning Cathiard maybe, but a very good wine in its own right. It had a lovely, perfumed nose, with dark fruit and flowers along with nice inflections of spice at the sides. The palate was where the wine really showed its chops though. This was Grand Cru standard - very complete, full and beautifully integrated, with a fine-boned tannin structure and fresh, open acidity framing a real reservoir of dark juicy fruit and dried orange peel, with a long lick of spice on the mouthcoating finish. Just a hint of ripe, powdery tannin grip right at the end reminded one of the tremendous structural properties of the vintage. A gorgeously delicious wine, even though it clearly needs another 5-10 years before truly hitting its stride.

March 2, 2016 - Domaine de Montille Vosne Romanée Malconsorts Lunch at La Paulée (1760 Restaurant, San Francisco): Magnum. Medium ruby, lighter rim. It starts out all menthol on the nose, but with coaxing, sweet blueberry fruit and spice expand in the background. Medium to full bodied, actually quite dense. Spicy fruit, excellent acidity, dry tannins, and lots of soil on the finish. Completely unready. In short, very 2005. The biggest of the 6 vintages, terrific potential, but well behind the Christiane of this vintage.
