March 31, 2024 - Had this side by side with village NSG from 14. A clear step up here. A lot more depth and concentration. Dark fruits, lots of tannin, decent spice. A younger wine but also a wine of just more class and grace. Love Chevillon and for the price point this wine delivers.

August 27, 2022 - Decanted briefly. This is a really superior NSG with bright focused red fruit, candied cherry that blended in with some air. It's fruit forward but quickly engages the full palate with that hard-to-describe cornucopia of nuance you get with fine Burgundy. I find many NSGs too stemmy/nutty but not this one. Delightful.

August 13, 2022 - Pretty deep ruby color. This takes a moment to open up, I gave it a 2 hours decant, but then it‘s starting to show red and dark red berries, some cassis too, also some candied violets, leather, some ferrous minerality (as it is often the case with the Vaucrains), it also shows some smokey notes, sweet spices and a touch of chocolate, soil/earth. It‘s medium-full bodied, with excellent mid-palate persistence, it has pretty high acidity and some medium-high tannin that is very silky but still needs a little time to integrate. Good length. A beautifully balanced and classic Vaucrains. Ideally I would give this another 2-3 years before it will start to really open up.

June 5, 2021 - This is often the best in the Chevillon range and in 2017 this is brilliant. A very perfumed nose without any trace of reduction showing blue fruits with a hint of sauvage and smoke. The palate is very refined, with lots of sappy blue and black fruits with sweetness and nice Premeaux limestone flavors that kick in after a very viscous and luscious mid palate. There is a lot here but everything is well balanced and enjoyable as there is so much sap and the tannic backbone is very fine. Already very enjoyable but will be an amazing bottle in 20 years. Grand cru level here.
