March 18, 2021 - During a Bonnes Mares dinner. A very strong pair of Vougeraie BM in this flight. The 2013 vs the 2017. Both of them showed very nice stemmy notes which I know from the DRC wines, intermixed with notes of toasty oak, red fruit and some blueberries and even a touch of grape fruit. The 2013 has integrated the oak very well, is not acidic and thin like some wines of this vintage. The 2017 is similar in style, elegant, with polished tanins but I would not open it before 2025 to let the oak integrate and wait for some more tertiary notes. Both are impressive GC Burgs, very popular at the table. Thank god I have some of these in my own cellar.
