May 8, 2024 - "Rousseau is for drinking" (La Trompette): Immediately charming, which is meant in the best of respects rather than as faint praise, and was characteristic of the whole flight - and (less overtly) the entire lunch. Beautifully aromatic with soft strawberry, then fuller on the palate (although still light on its feet), with a bitter edge and a long, slightly savoury blueberry-toned finish. So pleasant - a really encouraging start. Ended up being my #5 red today.

May 3, 2024 - Butterscotch, red and dark berries, a bit rustic and herbs in the bouquet. On the palate juicy red berries, herbs and spices, elegant acidity, slightly sticky tannin and some pleasant bitterness in the finish. The wine is in its very young maturity stage and will improve and show more finesse 10+ years from now. 92+

April 13, 2024 - Nose: bubble gum, pepper, blackcurrant, red fruits
Notes: upon opening this almost feels like tasting from the barrel, so young, vivid and energetic. Nothing interesting has developed so far so this is another young wine wasted. I was originally hoping for some indication on the prospects but right now the overall expression is just very bubble gum and grape juice like. Cannot draw any conclusion on this right now and I suspect this needs another 10 years of cellaring to be ready for consumption.

April 5, 2024 - Drank at Torien side-by-side with 18' Rousseau CSJ. This 17' was a bit more meaty and dark than the 18', and generally showed quite youthful. Better with air, or ideally some more time in the bottle.

September 17, 2023 - First Rousseau! Core of well defined fruit - rasberry and red cherry. Lifted floral notes. Layered nose. Long savoury touched finish. Fantastic but not mind-blowing.

    WSET notes:

    Pale ruby.

Pronounced on the nose with violet, raspberry, red cherry, clove, leather. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Medium body, medium alcohol, high acidity, medium plus tannins, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for aging.
