Community Tasting Notes 4

June 6, 2017 - Also known as "The Darkie". Screwcap. Like most of the other Barossa Shirazes tasted tonight, this has a nose of blackcurrant and oak, but this one has a sinister edge to it: a waft of tobacco smoke. The palate is tight and concentrated: the alcohol (15.7%) is strong, but restrained. Flavours of Ribena, anise, and rhubarb, plus a strong background note of dark chocolate.

August 27, 2012 - 2003 Syrah/Shiraz (Tasted Blind) (Rich and Peggy's House, Los Altos, California): Very dense and very tasty, but could be a little bit better integrated. Tested blind.
    Thought this was a Zin...

August 18, 2010 - Very satisfying old style shiraz with charcoal, meat, blackberry and spicy high acid finish. Well balanced, still quite youthful.

December 2, 2007 - from wine tasting party: lots of oak, mellow, "it is not obnoxious". Alot going on with this wine - this was the oldest wine of the tasting and it definitely showed - many different things going on at once.
