    January 23, 2024 - CV1
    Beautiful metallic yellow
Ripe yellow fruit, melon, peach, spice
Rather full bodied, mA, h-B, dry, some bitterness on the balanced finish.
    Drink now-2030 or maybe longer
This has certainly evolved since last visit May 2021.

December 25, 2023 - In 2017, “Chevalier de Sterimberg” was Jaboulet’s top Hermitage Blanc since no “La Chapelle” Blanc was made. Popped and poured; served just below cellar temp and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The wine pours a light gold with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the 2017 is still developing with notes of pear, orange marmalade, lemon, stone fruit, honeydew, honey, chamomile and granite minerals. On the palate, I’m getting more than expected acid which I would rate at medium. The finish is long and has surprising (and welcome!) minerality. This has matured very well in the last few years (this is better than my previous bottle) and I expect it will continue to do so through 2032. This was a sublime pairing with our annual seafood boil.

October 11, 2023 - Gave this about 60 minutes of air in the fridge (gently decanted) Paired with french onion soup and a caeser salad. Very enjoyable.

September 29, 2023 - This is OK and still alive without any tertiary caramel, which is a relief. Nice complex notes of pear, hints of lychee, vanilla and ripe white peach. Medium plus weight, nice oily feel on the palate. Acidity is good. Long and complex. Drink now unless you like tertiary notes.

May 15, 2023 - Clean but has enough life and sophistication to it that it kept offering new notes over an hour drinking window. At a whopping 14.5% this blanc leaves behind the traits of a heavy hitter and opens up to expressions of passion fruit, kiwi, cantaloupe, and pear. There’s a bit of apricot (plenty on the nose) and it’s rounded off with minerals and fresh oak. This borderlines on a dessert wine with its thickness - comprised of 70% marsanne & 30% roussane - paired with porcini and truffle ravioli + black truffle oil infused pesto, this made for a fantastic night.
