November 20, 2023 - So far white Rhone doesn't have enough acidity for me to really enjoy, but damn did this nearly change my mind. Peach, some slight but not obtrusive bitters, unripe pineapple, creaminess, just about enough acidity, grapefruit, long finish. Made from 85% Marsanne and 15% Rousanne, with 14.5% alcohol that felt quite manageable.

November 19, 2023 - Utregs Wijnhuis tasting Exclusief (Utrecht, NL): This was almost (too) youthful. Always such a treat to drink this. In the interview with Levi Dalton in IDTT episode 352, Jean-Louis explained that he liked the white better over the red Hermitage, but that it needs at least 20 years. So indeed maybe too young :-). Medium+ intensity with fig, pear, a bitter note, lactic, melon, white chocolate, marzipan. Medium acidity (just enough), very long finish. 95+

October 22, 2023 - Houston Northern Rhone Blowout: The bottle was fine, but the Chave whites lack sufficient acidity for my palate. This was flabby without a lot of fruit to redeem it

September 30, 2023 - Lovely, slight roasted nuts on the nose, hints of candle wax; palate is medium rich, with good acidity, the roasted nuts appear, keeps getting better with air. Can't remember drinking 05 Blanc before, this doesn't show some of the richer, more voluptuous character of vintages I've had in the past several years (99, 2000, 2007, 2012). It's a bit more like the 08, seemingly needing quite a bit more time to really blossom.

September 29, 2023 - Allemand vs Chave (Kitchen Istanbul): Rich nose with notes of honey, orange, citrus, and maybe a hint of apricot. The palate felt a bit tighter with decent acidity, citrus zest notes, and a slight bitterness. Nice finish. This is rich and complex and I particularly enjoyed the nose, but the palate feels like it needs a bit more time. 92-93+
