March 3, 2024 - There’s certainly vegetables on the nose, asparagus, cabbage, along with beautiful red fruit. There’s a sense of lightness, elegance, airy, dancing fruit. And I love it. There so much sweet, red fruit in a lean, green style. Yes, please, yes, thank you.

February 29, 2024 - 2004 is considered as a weaker vintage in general, but where Mr Reynaud excels!! Very nice nose of roasted beef blood, steak, orange peel, roasted strawberries... Very delicate, loads of sweet cherries, salty strawberries, very nice!!

October 27, 2023 - PnP I really enjoyed this bottle of 2004 Fonsalette. Mature and full of earthy syrah character. Deep red in the glass no sign of browning.

May 31, 2023 - I loved this. I was worried after a few of the reviews here, but suffice to say that this is not old. It has a bit of brown at the rim, but otherwise a good light red core. Tobacco flavors, mushrooms along with a fragrant strawberry and kirsch on nose and palate. Very elegant as always. I didn’t decant this much so we’ll see how it evolves in the glass.
This was a great pairing with asparagus and morels in Madeira but not a good match with steak. It is too light bodied for steak, but would be good with chicken or pheasant or a mushroom-heavy vegetarian dish. Or Spanish tortilla with egg and potato.

October 10, 2022 - (Tasted next to a 2004 Rayas) In this flight, I think we see a bit of weakness in the Fonsalette. Not as elegant as the '06 Fonsalette, and showing a lot (maybe too much) of Syrah character. Lovely wine, but not up to the others.
