August 2, 2015 - Round, soft, some apparent sweetness although probably dry by measurement. Not terribly interesting. Drink away.

November 21, 2012 - Again, very minerally with bruleed citrus, honey and some herbal and petrol notes. Very round with a beautiful texture showing some dried flowers and citrus notes juxtaposed against dark minerals. Good length.

September 12, 2011 - More minerally than fruity, which is not a problem for a rockhead like me. Aromas of mineral, petrol and honey with a little bit of melon and citrus. The fruit it does show is more of the bruleed secondary type flavors. Good acidity and a nice creaminess. Holding up very well with a nice long minerally finish.

February 17, 2009 - Nice straw color, a little deeper than I would have expected from a riesling. Has a heavy, buttery nose, again not something I would expect from a riesling. The nose also has a floral/honey component that make it smell more like a late harvest riesling from alsace.

The acidity is still alive and kicking, but there's a weight and a creaminess to the wine that makes it serious and heavy. It took me a while to warm up to the style of the wine, as it's not very fruity...one of the more slate/mineral driven wines I've tried. I ended up liking it but wonder whether I was influenced by its pedigree more than its taste. Will have to try some newer Hirsch wines to see...

November 28, 2008 - A nose that melts your knees, with sweet honey and buttery notes, along with lemon cream pie. Great acidity balances our the comlpex yellow fruits, apricots, and nectarines to pair perfectly with squash soup.
