February 23, 2021 - Ripe aromatically and veers a bit to cherry medicine. Lacks nuance and interest. Disappointing.

May 19, 2018 - Great expression of 2005 vintage. Opened an hour before pouring. At first light on the palate with a nose of red fruit and sous-bois. Developed over 3 hours of drinking, nose took on more currant/bramble/spice, rich mouthfeel with great minerality, acidity, and soft tannins. Vibrant red fruit and classic tertiary flavors starting to show. Medium-long finish. Drinking beautifully now, possibly nearing peak but should continue to hold and possibly develop more tertiary characteristics for at least a few years if not longer.

    March 10, 2018 - PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
-nearly opaque dark red purple, minimal bricking
-rich dark cherry plum sous bois
-med acidity, med weight impressive depth faded dark fruit earth with a bitter mineral spine, really starts to open up after 2-3 hours, gentle med- tannins leave the barest hint of astringency
-darker and more powerful than any other prior vintage I've tasted from Truchot, in the case of his 2005s the vintage characteristics overwhelm the terroir or producer characteristics; while this is excellent and drinking well now in early maturity, I still prefer his '04s

August 19, 2017 - Ordered the Chambolle again because I thought I ordered the Clos Sorbes last time. Equally shut down and unyielding. Discussed with the Somm. Not sure if this is a function of the vintage or the possibility of him not being hands off in his last vintage.

June 10, 2017 - Still very much shut down. Off a restaurant list and they would not let me take it home. Very dark fruit in profile and grand cru weight. This lacked the spice and prettiness of the 92 a few months ago. Unyielding even after 2 hours of decant. I wish I could have squirreled this away for 10-20 years. Wait on this one.
