February 17, 2024 - WTSO and Costco wines while hiking in Arizona (Superstition Mountains and Sedona): Vinturi'd into a decanter, in the decanter for an hour before serving. Notes here suggest that this drinks well now. I do not agree. I think it needs 5-7 years. Right now, the fruit is big, noticeable tannins, the oak needs to integrate and there's some unresolved greenery. Hold and unscored.

October 14, 2023 - Tasted over two days.

Compelling perfume of violets, blackcurrant, blackberry, juniper, heather, mint, and wintergreen, backed by terroir-driven Left Bank markers. Late summer, purple berry potpourri also stood out. Some oak? Yes. Overpowering? No. Likely to integrate? Yes.

Lively and juicy attack. Graceful and expansive middle; the wine gliding across the palate. Powdery tannins show prominently at the back. Medium plus, flavorful finish. Medium plus acidity, medium minus to medium tannins.

A highly appealing whole package. Not something I would hold beyond 2033-2035. Fine QPR.

June 12, 2023 - Deep red with the slightest garnet on the rim.
Medium intensity with grassy notes on the nose, smokey oak, lean, earthy.

On open, smokiness on the entry, mid palate and finish.

    This needs some air time.

Upon some air, it opens up with nice minerality, mostly black fruits like cassis and blackberries but a touch of red fruits, vegetal notes. Not complex but with good freshness, slightly drying tannins, and a medium length finish. Nice Bordeaux.

May 16, 2023 - Beautiful young ruby color. Nose is slightly muted with initial touch of vanilla, tobacco, dark chocolate, touch of black pepper, some bright red fruit and just a hint of licorice root.

Palate is fresh, medium bodied, light in alcohol and not overly ripe in any way. It has lots of bright red fruit and tobacco, it seems very open for business. Not the most complex wine ever but very enjoyable and not overpowering or cloying in any way.

Finishes medium+ with nice grip to tannins and bright red cherries.

Very much not like other 2018 Bordeaux I have tried. It's somewhat light on its feet compared to many '18 bruisers I've had. Still young but drinks very well, I expect lots of upside in the next 2 decades.
